Cleaners, porters and catering staff at Lewisham hospital in London had to walk out in protest last week to be paid and given protective clothing. In the middle of a pandemic!
Their employer, ISS, rakes in billions of dollars across the globe from services contracts with public bodies like the NHS and with other wealthy corporations.
ISS’s failures at that hospital are all over local news thanks to the courageous workers and their union -- but the issue is still not resolved, and the workers can’t take it anymore. And neither can we.
Tell ISS to pay its coronavirus frontline workers fairly - right now!
These workers are at the frontline of the UK’s NHS protecting patients, medical teams, and the public from the spread of the coronavirus. It’s simply unfair.
According to Helen O’Connor, a GMB union organiser, for many of these workers missing just one pay cheque means not being able to pay the rent, or put food on their families’ tables.
We can change this. ISS’s annual shareholder meeting is on April 2, and so execs and investors are watching the company’s public reputation very carefully.
Tell ISS to pay at least the local living wage to all its healthcare workers around the world, and ensure that they have adequate personal protective equipment.
